Lombard — the Lilac Village — has one of the larger stocks of mid-century housing in our service area, and that is exactly the vintage where repair and repaint work stacks up. Ranches, split-levels, Cape Cods and early two-stories from the 1950s and 1960s, most of them on their second or third owner, many of them still carrying original trim and original ceilings.

Houses of that age give us a consistent list. Inside: settlement cracks that keep reopening above doors and windows, popped tape along ceiling seams, nail and screw pops across whole floors, textured ceilings that have been patched badly at some point and now show it, and water-stained drywall under bathrooms and at the eaves. The older pockets of the village have plaster rather than drywall, which fails differently and needs a different fix — mention which you have when you call.

Outside, mid-century houses tend to have aluminum or wood siding with painted trim, soffits and fascia, and the failure is usually at the details rather than in the field: fascia boards that have gone soft at the joints, soffit paint flaking, trim caulk long since opened up. Those are fixable, but only if the prep is real — scraped, primed, caulked, then painted. Lombard is six miles from our base, close enough that we will come out for a single ceiling repair as readily as for a full exterior.
