Exterior House Painters in Westmont, IL

Siding, trim, soffits and fascia — scraped, caulked and primed first.

An exterior repaint in northern Illinois is a prep job with a paint job at the end of it. Freeze and thaw cycles, wind-driven rain off the prairie and a hundred-degree swing between January and July pull at every seam, every caulk line and every piece of bare wood on a house. Paint that was sprayed over chalky, unprimed or unsealed siding will tell you about it within two winters, usually along the south and west elevations first.

We paint siding, trim, soffits, fascia, porch ceilings, doors and garages on homes in Westmont, Downers Grove, Hinsdale, La Grange, Western Springs, Lombard and the rest of our service area, and we refresh storefronts and small commercial buildings along the Ogden Avenue and Route 83 corridors. Every quote spells out how much scraping, caulking and priming the house actually needs, because that is where the money and the lifespan both are.

Local Detail

The exterior season in northern Illinois

Exterior painting here runs roughly from late spring through early fall. The limit is not the calendar, it is surface temperature and dew point — most exterior coatings want a surface above the manufacturer's minimum and a window dry enough to cure before evening condensation settles on it. Painting outside that window is how you get adhesion failure the following spring, so we schedule rather than squeeze.

That makes the good weeks genuinely limited, and they fill up. If you are planning an exterior for this year, it is worth getting on the schedule early. Older homes in La Grange, Western Springs and Hinsdale with wood siding and deep trim detail take longer than a vinyl ranch of the same square footage, and we would rather tell you that at the estimate than discover it halfway through.

Our Process

How an exterior job runs

  1. Inspect every elevation

We walk all four sides and look at what the weather has been doing — peeling, chalking, open joints, soft wood, failed caulk. The quote describes the prep each elevation needs instead of averaging it.

  2. Wash, scrape, repair

Surfaces cleaned, failing paint scraped and sanded to a sound edge, bare and weathered wood primed, joints and gaps caulked. Rotted trim gets flagged for replacement before paint goes anywhere near it.

  3. Mask and protect

Windows, roofs, lights, walks, drives and plantings covered. On a windy day we adjust the method rather than the coverage.

  4. Coat, inspect, clean

Finish coats on siding and trim, a close look at the cut lines and the undersides people forget, then the whole site cleaned down and walked with you.

FAQ

Exterior Painting questions

Straight answers, including the ones where the honest answer is 'it depends'.
When is the best time of year to paint a house exterior in Illinois?
Late spring through early fall. The real constraints are surface temperature and overnight dew, not the date, so the shoulder weeks at either end depend on the forecast. Early summer is the safest bet and the fastest to book out.
Do you spray or brush and roll?
Whichever suits the surface and the conditions. Open siding takes spray well; detailed trim, tight setbacks between houses and breezy days are better brushed and rolled. We will tell you which we plan to use on your house and why.
Can you paint over peeling paint?
Not successfully. New paint is only as sound as the layer under it, so failing paint has to come off back to an edge that holds, and bare wood has to be primed. Any quote that skips that step is quoting a different, shorter-lived job.
Do you paint garages, doors and fences?
We paint garages — inside and out — along with doors, soffits, fascia and trim. For decks, fences and other outdoor structures, call (779) 939-9711 and describe what you have; we will tell you straight whether it is work we take on.
